I’m Olena Sardo, a Board‑Certified Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP‑BC) with advanced training in maternal mental health, perinatal psychopharmacology, and functional psychiatry. I specialize in supporting women through their fertility journey, postpartum, and the many transitions of motherhood — my approach is gentle, collaborative, and rooted in the belief that every mother deserves to feel seen, supported, and cared for.
My work blends evidence‑based psychiatry with a functional, whole‑person lens, shaped through my Fellowship in Functional & Integrative Psychiatry. This allows me to look beyond symptoms and understand the deeper layers of a mother’s wellbeing — her sleep, stress, nourishment, hormones, nervous system, and the invisible load she carries every day.
My clinical background spans inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, pediatric behavioral health, women’s mental health, and trauma‑informed care. I’ve had the privilege of working in nationally recognized systems, including Johns Hopkin's Hospital, where I cared for children and families navigating complex psychiatric needs. Witnessing firsthand how deeply families are affected by stress, illness, and emotional strain. Those years taught me how profoundly a mother’s wellbeing shapes the entire family — and how essential it is for mothers to have a safe place to land.
I completed specialized training through Postpartum Support International, including Perinatal Mood Disorders and Advanced Perinatal Psychopharmacology. This training guides the way I support women through anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, birth trauma, and the emotional shifts that can surface during pregnancy and postpartum.
Today, I provide care that honors the realities of motherhood: the sleepless nights, the identity shifts, the invisible load, the joy, the overwhelm, and everything in between. My goal is to create a space where women feel seen, supported, and understood. Together, we’ll build a plan that feels safe, personalized, and aligned with your values, whether that includes medication, lifestyle support, functional approaches, or a blend of all three.
Motherhood is beautiful, but it can also be overwhelming, lonely, and heavy. You don’t have to navigate it alone. I’m here to walk with you, gently and steadily, as you find your way back to yourself.
